Fecal Egg Count
The first kit-based parasite test built for Canadian horse owners.
A simple fecal egg count that comes with real microscope images, so you can decide whether to deworm based on what's actually going on.
What it is
A fecal egg count counts the parasite eggs in a fresh manure sample. The result โ eggs per gram, or EPG โ tells you how much that horse is actually shedding right now.
It's about as easy as testing gets: collect a sample, mail it in, and your results show up in the Metaboly portal within 5โ10 business days. Shipping's on us.
We know keeping horses is expensive enough as it is, so $15 is a price you can count on.
It's also built into Protect, our foundational health package, if you'd rather combine parasite monitoring with heavy metal and elemental screening.

Why test before deworming
Deworming every horse on a fixed schedule, regardless of what they're actually carrying, is a big part of why parasite resistance has become such a widespread problem. This isn't a future risk โ it's already the reality in most regions.
Test before you treat
Not every horse needs deworming every time you deworm the herd. This tells you which ones actually do.
Cut back on unnecessary treatment
Deworming on a fixed schedule means treating horses that don't need it โ and that repeated overuse is a big part of why resistance keeps growing.
Build a smarter routine
A few tests a year is usually enough to spot seasonal patterns and figure out which horses in your barn shed the most.
Keep dewormers working
Anthelmintic resistance is already a real problem in most regions, not a distant risk. Treating only the horses that need it helps keep the drugs we have effective for longer.
What you receive
Every order ships in a Metaboly collection kit, and you get more than a number back โ you get to see the evidence yourself.
