What Clarity Core is

Clarity Core is the foundational service within Metaboly's Clarity line. It analyses a submitted feed or forage sample directly — quantifying the elemental content of what the horse is consuming, using traditional wet-bench analytical chemistry.

The service covers toxic heavy metals, a full micronutrient panel, and macrominerals in a single submission. This gives you a clear picture of both what should be present in appropriate quantities and what should not be present at all — before making feeding, supplementation, or management decisions.

Elemental composition in feed and forage varies significantly by source, region, season, and storage. Two visually indistinguishable bales can carry meaningfully different mineral and metal profiles. Clarity Core makes those differences visible.

Why it matters

Chronic exposure to toxic metals through feed — even at low concentrations — can contribute to neurological dysfunction, reproductive disruption, gut integrity issues, and systemic inflammation. These effects often appear gradually and without an obvious cause, making feed-side screening a meaningful part of an investigative approach.

Micronutrient imbalances tell a parallel story. Deficiencies or excesses in selenium, copper, zinc, or manganese affect immune function, connective tissue integrity, coat and hoof quality, and fertility. Without elemental analysis, these imbalances are invisible in a standard health workup.

Clarity Core provides the baseline context that makes both detection and management possible.

Wet-bench chemistry only

Metaboly does not use NIR (near-infrared spectroscopy) for Clarity analyses. NIR is a prediction method that estimates nutritional values from spectral patterns — it is not appropriate for toxic metal detection or precise trace element quantification. All Clarity Core elemental analysis is performed by direct wet-bench chemistry: traditional sample digestion and elemental quantification in an analytical laboratory. The result is more accurate, more reproducible, and more useful for clinical and management interpretation.
